KUME [KOO-MEE] is made by two sisters, Emily and Susan Koo.

When our family moved from Korea to Kelowna, B.C., everything felt new — except our kitchen. Our table was always filled with gochujang, doenjang, and the deep fermented flavours we grew up with.

As we got older, we became the ones cooking for friends. They didn't just like the food — they devoured it. But when they went home, they weren't always sure how to bring those flavours into their own kitchens.

So we asked: what if we made Korean ferments easier to use — not by diluting them, but by pairing them with familiar flavours people already know?

That's KUME.

We reimagined gochujang into three ready-to-use sauces — designed to fit into whatever you're cooking. No rules. No right way. Just creativity in a squeeze pouch that you can take anywhere!

One of us trained as an architect. The other as a chef. Together, we design sauces meant to be used, shared, and enjoyed.

KUME (꾸미) comes from the Korean word meaning "to garnish" - to elevate food with flavour and presentation. That's exactly what we want you to do with your food.
